Summer Program

WHY JOIN A SUMMER PROGRAM?

For many, the summer break is a very much anticipated period simply because it serves as a hiatus from the daily drudgery of academic life. For some, summer is a time to catch up on academic backlog (Franzosischkurse in Montpellier). Why not combine the two and have a break while not letting up on your studies? Is this possible? Definitely!

Going on a trip is the most usual way people get away from the routine of their daily lives. That is of course addressed by the fact that you would be going to another country. Now if you go to another country to take up some courses, it would be killing two birds with one stone – leisure and study brought together: sprachreisen englisch Cork.

Spending a summer abroad on whatever academic program you wish to participate in gives you the best of both worlds. You learn more about whichever field you choose and you get to participate in leisure activities that you may not normally have available to you in your own country. More so, actually spending some time in a foreign country as a local (well, almost a local) would give you a rich cultural and personal experience.

WHERE TO GO

Many universities and colleges in the UK have joint programs with other academic institutions in other countries. If you are seriously considering joining a summer program, then your own school would be a good place to start looking. Check if you have a study abroad department. If you do, then they would have the information that you need to explore your options. If you do not have such an access, check the Internet. There are a lot of materials online that would help point your way in the right direction.

WHAT TO STUDY

What program you wish to participate in would largely depend on your preferences. You can choose to extend your existing university or college education and find a program catering to your field. You can also choose to study a totally different program for the summer if you wish. What program you decide to take up would determine which country and university you would apply to for the summer.

 Benefits of Studying Abroad

Benefits Of Abroad Studying

Spending a summer abroad for your studies is one of the best things that you can ever do. In fact, it is so beneficial that every college or university student should be able to do this at least once in their lives. What benefits does a student reap from studying abroad?

First of all, you will be exposed to a different culture. That in itself would extend self-awareness and open your eyes to the world outside of your comfort zone. More than that, though, what you learn will be beneficial to your future career. In today’s globalised world of business, the chances are that you will be doing business with people outside of the UK when you get out of the university. As such, the insights you gain from your cultural experiences abroad would be of great help when the need arises.

In relation to this, spending some time abroad would also help you to know the workings of bureaucracy and the government in a foreign country. In the future, if you work with these people, you will have an edge over those who have not had your experience.

If learning a language is your goal, then studying abroad would be your best bet. Learning a language is more than knowing the words and the grammar. Part of it is knowing about the culture of the people who speak that language. What better way to do this than immerse yourself in their culture?

Spending time abroad away from your comfort zone forces you to be independent and to act like the adult that you will very soon be. Being away from your family and friends will bring out traits in you that you might not have known you had. Flexibility and patience are only two characteristics that would be honed if you were to spend some time abroad. Indeed, with these two traits, you will find yourself in pretty good shape – both in your studies and in business.

These are only a few benefits for students who spend their summer abroad. Each and every person is different. For every single student goes to a foreign country, the experience is unique. So why don’t you create and live your own?

 Financing Your Trip

Financing Your Trip

One of the major hindrances to young people’s dreams of spending some time in a foreign country for their studies is the cost. Though it is not an impossible dream, we have to admit that even a summer trip abroad may involve a considerable amount of money. Not only do you have to consider the cost of travel to and from the country, but you also have to take into account the cost of the tuition, board, lodging, and other expenses. There are, however, many options available to those who desire to participate in a summer program. Of course, one of the first things that you can do is approach your parents. Even if you are 18 years old and above, it is always best to talk things over with your parents. You never know, they may be able to help you finance your trip – at least partially if not in whole.

Perhaps the best option would be to apply for financial aid. Many universities and colleges see the advantages of summer programs abroad and extend financial aid packages to their students. They also take care of majority of the planning and coordination required in arranging the program with the destination school. This would take a load off your back – both in terms of finances and logistics.

Depending on the program you choose, the financial aid package that your academic institution may be enough to cover your basic expenses for your whole stay. As such, this may be a factor in choosing the program you want to participate in during the summer. Another option would be to take out a student loan. Of course, this would mean that you would have to pay off whatever amount you borrowed for your summer program. You may have to ask for your parents’ assistance when taking out and paying for the loan as well.

If you plan ahead well enough, there is the chance that you may get a scholarship or a grant – either from your home school or from your destination school. Though this option may involve a longer and more tedious process, it doesn’t hurt to explore this path.
